Olive oil, mozzarella, pizza and pasta – there are thousands of other Italian specialties that are not only a treat for the palate in Italy. Food has a special meaning in Italy. It’s much more than just consuming nutritional values. Eating is part of Italian culture and is properly celebrated. Dinner is usually the most important meal of the day and consists of different courses. There are different starters, the so-called antipasti, two main courses and the dessert. As starters, for example, fried or filled rice balls (suppli / arancini), toasted bread with tomatoes (bruschetta), cooked and raw ham(Prosciutto) and shrimp cocktail (cocktail di gamberi) enough. With the main courses you can look forward to various pasta dishes, soups, fish and meat dishes. The minestrone is a clear soup with various other ingredients such as vegetables, rice, noodles or bacon. Risotto is a rice dish in different variations that is preferred in northern Italy. You probably know the various pasta dishes such as Penne All’Arrabbiata, Tagliatelle alle Boscaiola, Rigatoni al Forno from the menu of your favorite Italian and you can also enjoy them in the country of origin. Typical Italian desserts are ice cream (gelato),Tiramisu and Panna Cotta. It can only make your mouth water!
Activities in Italy
The diversity of Italy enables holidaymakers to do various things in the popular holiday destination. If you like to be in nature, but don’t just want to relax on the beach, there are many activities in Italy to choose from. Hiking, diving, cycling – the heart of active vacationers blossoms here. Italy is ideal for exploring it on foot. It doesn’t matter how fit you are, because there are hiking trails for every level of difficulty. In northern Italy you can hike relaxed without ascent or you can head towards the peaks. The Italian islands, Tuscany and the many other regions are also ideal for a hike in Italy. If you prefer to travel a little faster, you can also discover many regions by bike or mountain bike. Here, too, there is a suitable route for every cyclist. The choice is huge, so Italy is a popular destination, especially for bike tours and bike tours. Whether fast with the mountain bike over hill and dale or leisurely on the borrowed bike through the countryside – Umbria, Abruzzo, Apulia and also many cities such as Rome and Florence are waiting for your visit. You can also discover a lot under the water surface of the many coastal areas in Italy, namely while diving. The many islands and coastlines of the mainland offer you excellent diving areas. Especially diving in Sardinia I recommend you to my heart. Shipwrecks, underwater caves and marine reserves offer you the perfect conditions for a dive. In winter Italy is worthwhile to make the mountains unsafe on skis. You can spend a great skiing holiday in the Alps. These are just a few of the activities you can do in Italy, there are many others.

The accommodations in Italy will leave you spoiled for choice. Every region is simply beautiful here and you have an unlimited choice of different hotels. Hotels and other accommodations by the sea or in the mountains are in no way inferior in terms of popularity. Holidays are not only important in Austria, but also in Italy. Either for religious reasons or because a public holiday in Italy is a day off for many. We also know many of the Italian holidays in Austria, such as Easter, New Year and Labor Day on May 1st. But the day of the liberation of Italy or the day of the Republic of Italy is reserved for the Italians. If you are in Italy on public holidays, you should know that many shops and businesses, especially in small towns, are closed on these days. Feasting on Italian cuisine, sunbathing on the beach or exploring the landscape – there is no way boredom in Italy. And if it does: There are numerous events in Italy that are worth a visit. In addition to the many weekly markets in almost every city, there are food and music festivals across the country. Carnival and Easter are celebrated in a way that is definitely worth checking out.
